This concert is the final in a series devised by the RCM’s renowned pianist, Professor Dmitri Alexeev and is dedicated to the memory of his former teacher, distinguished Russian pianist, professor and pedagogue, Dmitri Bashkirov.
Acclaimed international pianist Dmitri Bashkirov died in March this year at the age of 89. He trained and taught at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and his achievements attracted a renowned list of future stars including the RCM's Professor Dmitri Alexeev.
The RCM remembers his residency in 2017 where he imparted his skill and knowledge in lessons and masterclasses. At the time he said of the College 'The special atmosphere, beautiful building, gifted students and friendly attitude of colleagues and staff will stay in my memory...'. In this special concert RCM pianists perform a variety of pieces from Bach to Ligeti.
